On August 17, 2009, the State announced that it was proposing to open Lake Audrey for public fishing on January 4, 2010, but institute a "catch & immediate release" status for the lake until at least 2012, effectively banning all tournaments until that year at the earliest.
Unfortunately, numerous reports have been received during 2009 regarding people illegally fishing at the lake during the closed period (both from the shoreline and from boats). Some of these people are leaving their trash along the shoreline, defacing this otherwise pristine body of water that took a lot of hard work to create.
